If you have recently encountered an issue with your Solar Lantern or Jar not working please follow our troubleshooting tips below:

My Lantern or Jar will not switch on?

1. Please remove the lid and ensure you have done the following:

a. Removed the plastic part by the battery cover to activate the solar lantern battery

b. Ensure the switch is ON not OFF

2. Please ensure you have placed your lantern or jar in a sunny spot for at least 6 - 8 hours. They will not light up after a day in the shade.

3. Please test your lantern or jar when it is DARK. The light will only be activated in the dark. The room cannot be semi dark, the solar panel needs darkness for it to light up.

My Lantern or Jar has stopped working?

Has it been a particularly cloudy or wet day? The Solar Panel may not have had enough sunlight to charge the lantern.

  • Please test again after a sunny day when the panel has been charged for 6 - 8 hours.
  • Please make sure the Solar Lantern is in a sunny place and ensure it’s in an unobstructed position to receive full sun during the hours of 9am and 3pm.

Check you have switched the button inside the lid to 'ON.' The Solar panel may not be on automatic light up when night falls

  • Next time the light turns itself on, remove the lid and switch the on/off button off and on again. Sometimes it just needs to be retriggered.
  • Please ensure the switch is switched to ON while being charged during the day.

It only lights up for a while and then switches off?

  • This would be the regular low power battery protection mechanism, not a product quality problem. You do not need to service the product here, it will return to normal working condition once it has been charged enough. Similar to a cell phone, goes into power save mode and then switches off.
  • Please test again after a sunny day when the panel has been charged for 6 - 8 hours.
  • Please make sure the Solar Lantern is in a sunny place and ensure it’s in an unobstructed position to receive full sun during the hours of 9am and 3pm.

Please note if you have had your lantern or jar for approximately one year then you may need to change the battery. Please note the lanterns and jars require 1 x 1.2V 600mAH Ni-MH battery.
