FAIRY LIGHT SKY
The Fairy Lights Sky is a lighting installation with a great visual impact! An excellent solution for creating large areas of light while also providing instant decor and ambience. One of the more common patterns for events and weddings. They are also popular for courtyards and decks. Who wouldn't love a sky of fairy lights?!
When planning this design think about:
- Your 4 hanging points and where they are?
- Where your power source is located?
- What space you want between each row of fairy lights. Important step this one as the space will dictate how many lights you will need.
- Length and Width of the space.
Or you may want to create a fairy light sky on a smaller scale. This can easily be done by connecting your strings between 2 end points.
CANOPY FAIRY LIGHT SKY
The Fairy Lights Sky can also be made in canopy format. For this a support pole is required in the center. Additional lighting and decorative elements can be added, such as our Solar Lanterns and Solar Jars or if wanting to decorate the tables use our battery powered seed fairy lights.
For this design you may want to cover your entire outdoor space or you may want to just feature the canopy on a particular zone, like the dining table and eating area.
If zoning your canopy, fairy light splitters will be your best friend! These fan out in 3 directions while allowing you to still use one power source.
FAIRY LIGHT TENT
The Fairy Lights Tent is a bright and elegant setup, a modified version of our Fairy Lights Sky. The lights go down to the ground on one of the long sides of the set-up, leaving the other free.
This is an interesting design detail, which can meet your style or simply adapt to your wedding venue, as in the photo below.
This is a great option when the dinner takes place near the side of buildings or walls. They help to enclose the space while creating a stunning visual impact!
This wedding fairy light set up can be enhanced by other lighting elements, such as adding festoon lighting for more layers and added decor.
TUNNEL OF FAIRY LIGHTS
The Fairy Lights Tunnel is a variant of our Fairy Lights Sky, made of the upper side and two additional side drapes that create the tunnel effect. The Fairy Lights Tunnel is a particularly suitable solution to illuminate long imperial tables, or to decorate an area of your wedding location that develops mainly in length. They can also help to create dramatic, dazzling entrances or spruce up blank spaces.
When planning this design think about:
- Length and Width
- Where your power source is located?
- What space you want between each row of fairy lights. Important step this one as the space will dictate how many lights you will need.
- Do you want to only use string of fairy lights or do you prefer fairy lights for the ceiling and curtain lights for the sides? Curtain lights create a natural drape. As they are already spaced out for you no need to worry about getting even spacing between lights.
Steel structures or poles will help frame the area and give you a zone to work with.
Below is an example of our fairy lights in a Westfield Shopping Mall. They have created the top layer with fairy lights. If they wanted to carry on the tunnel look they could add curtain fairy lights for the sides. In this case only the top was covered as they didn't want to distract from the Cotton On shop window display.
ROOMS, MARQUEES & GAZEBOS
In case of marquees, tents and gazebos, to install a Fairy Lights Sky it’s usually possible employing of the grips offered naturally by the structure.
The below look is very common for wedding venues. One of the most simple designs to install yet incredibly effective for lighting and setting the mood! We recommend using our core series fairy lights for this look.
They can also create statement lighting for ceilings in marquees!
Over the Dance Floor
Decorate the dance floor with our Fairy Lights and add a luminous pergola effect to the dancing area. Suddenly the space becomes welcoming and inviting. The fairy lights also help to define and zone the dance floor space.
If you don't have any practical support structures, you can always use steel or wooden poles as supports, like below. If you go with black steel poles our black cable fairy lights will make them sparkle!
The beauty of purchasing connectable fairy lights is the versatility they provide! Post event you can use them in other settings and different hanging patterns. Simply disconnect your 10m sets from each other and reconfigure for you new event or space.
