Lighting Up a Community, One Tree at a Time
When Our Kerikeri Community Trust wanted to bring new life to the town centre, they looked to one of the area's greatest natural features – its magnificent mature trees.
After seeing several of our council lighting installations, they approached Love Your Lights to help create a welcoming display that would become a permanent feature of the Kerikeri streetscape.
Working closely with the Trust, we assessed each tree and recommended the most suitable lighting setup based on its size, canopy and branch structure. As the lights were to remain installed year-round in a busy public space, safety and durability were paramount.

What made this project truly special was the community spirit behind it.
Local retailers whose businesses fronted the illuminated trees contributed towards the cost of the project and generously supplied the electricity to power the displays. The local electrical lines company donated their expertise, installing the lights overnight using specialist equipment to safely reach the towering canopies.
The result is more than just a lighting installation. By day, the trees remain a striking feature of the streetscape. By night, they transform the town centre into a warm and welcoming destination that residents and visitors alike can enjoy throughout the year.
